a quick question? is there a Carefour or something like it in the area? We're coming out in February, so I'm trying to get an idea of what is around. Thanx :)

I live up Oria way, but recently spent a week in an apartment in Vera. I think the 3 biggest supermarket type stores would be the new Consum near Vera Playa, then probably Intermarché then Lidl. There is also a Mercadona in Mojacar. I don't think any of them would be as big as a Carrefour though.
Perhaps someone living locally will have a better local knowledge and can add to this post...

Just wondering, since I live across the big pond, can any one locally tell me more about the Mojcar/Playa Vera area? in terms of recomending bars/restaurants, area to buy a duplex in (any area better then another) must be within walking distance of the ocean. We're planning on coming over for house hunting around mid February, so I'm trying to do some homework :)
thanks in advance

thanks for the tip for the beer, when there, will have to give a go. Haven't totally decided on the exact location, but Mojacr, Vera area is what we're thinking of, although once we get a chance to spend some more time there, I'm sure we'll narrow down even more, definately need to be within walking distance to beach and such.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays :)

Hello atkins, Happy Holidays .. thanks for your reply and the link. The first year or possibly 2 we might just holiday, since I'm retiring on about 2 years, I wish to move there. I was fortunate to visit Spain in September (too short of visit - Valencia, Alicante and Torrevieja), - somehow I found Vera and Mojacar, and have taken to it, at least as far as my research has gotten me. With luck, I'll be visiting again sometime in mid to late February where I can actually take a look as some long term rentals and/or sales and make a decision. I do love the whole coastal areas, now just have to learn at least some basic Spanish :)

Hi Sailinalone
As well as asking for information on forums, carry on with the research yourself, we’re all different, and have different likes and dislikes
Renting is a good idea, for at least six months, that way you can get a ‘feel for the area’; check out the various real estate agents and what to buy and where to buy it. Learning Spanish is also a good idea.
Good luck
Puff
