According to a rather curious legend, Walt Disney was said to have been born in Mojacar in 1905 and given the name of José Guirao Zamora. Supposedly he was the illegitimate son of Doctor and a washerwomen. The mother was said to have immigrated to the United States where the young José was to be adopted by Elias and Flora Disney. There is however a great deal of contridictory evidence that debunks this rather quaint legend.
